I've always had disc brakes, just no derailleurs or rear sus. I was really enjoying the ride today - it's squishtastic!

    Holy bandwidth, Batman!

You realize that those photos are like 3/4 of a MB each, right? I have DSL and it took like 10 minutes to load that page!

Nice pix, BTW. Looks like y'all had a great ride. Sorry I missed it. Nice to see Dan actually getting some dirt on that InTents. I've been looking at that thing at the shop for what must be a month now.

Dang, EBRider got an SS? He must miss is track bike days. I wonder how long it will take him to make it a fixie?

10 minutes? Damn! This was the first time using another service (flickr) and posted them at what I thought would be an alright size. My Pbase service didn't take actual size-format, so if you posted at "Original" it wouldn't be the actual original size just the size of the file has posted which is about 500-800k. Oops I'll post at a different size next time.

    You missed a great ride!

The extended ride was well worth it. Although I have summited Diablo many times on my roadie, it was the first time I've gone past Rock City on a MTB. Ha, never thought about doing it.

Seem to have all the elements on the mountain cept snow, yet it felt like it on the way down. Thanks Chuck for the great effort putting that summit ride together.

    Great ride.

The beer back in the parking lot tasted great, but where was everybody?

Jon, Jim and I summited. It was freekin cold!

Went up to the junction - up summit trail and then up the road - stopped at the top long enough to add a couple layers - and turned around.

My hands were frozen - could barely feel the bars and levers.

back down the way we came - secret trail over to Wall Point and followed yer tracks back to the cars.

    Got back around 2.

Good day - I think Jim got some pics - we never really stopped long enough to take many - had to keep moving to keep warm!

We had a good ride, hung out at rock city for a bit and back down Wall Pt.

    1. Plim. Doesn't he just crack you up?

    2. Sheese, you'd think she can get a medal or two at Sea Otter?

    3. Looks like a jungle, doesn't it?

    4. Dan Cook wash out.

    5. And we left them there. Never to be seen again.

I couldn't figure out how your motion based plot was 17 miles while mine was only 11 until I looked at the map...

Ahh good times, good friends, and a good ride! Aside from the chainsuck and learning that I can actually climb in the middle ring. I packed my camera, but never dug it out of my bag. So big thanks for documenting the muddy mucky mess. I was feeling pretty good when I got back to Dan's so I decided to ride home from his place. So I got in about 8 extra miles of pavement riding, and plenty of strange looks. I guess the mud was just too much for some people too look at. Lookin forward to some sunshine this week.

Awesome ride.. and so close to BART!
What is night riding protocol on Diablo (legal?)

That was the muddiest ride I've done in I don't know how long. I am still in awe of the man (sorry, forgot name) who rode the Giant with street tires. What a stud!

There were a couple of comments made on the way to and while waiting for BART... no one tried to stop us from getting on the train though. I certainly got a lot of looks from people in Oakland/ Berkeley though. You'd think they'd never seen a grown man covered in mud before... sheesh!

dunno, but it's a great spot in the summer - stays nice and warm - lots of stars - lots of wildlife comes out at night - owls - giant frogs all over the trails, tarantula's, bats etc...

It's a lot of fun and I was thinking the whole wat that it feels a lot like a track bike. With the rigid fork going down hill, I don't think I need to mix it up with my legs going at 200RPM so probably no fixie in the near future.

DSL?? Any relation to the Slowskys?

The trails within Mt. D state park are closed after dusk as is the entire park but the EB Regional parks around it are open until 10pm.

Good to know that our MB are almost identical!

Thanks for the socks, they FIT to my surprise. A bit snug, but fit. I know who to turn to now. "Vote for Dan'ger - he gets it done!"

    HAPPY EASTER ALL!!

He was a champ. He was at the top of most of the climbs before me and he made it down the last slippy-slide without a hitch as far as I could tell.
... he brought new meaning to the phrase, "it's not about the bike"
