    From Last Year

    The annointing of the pig.

Rosemary tied to an old, leftover wine barrel stave. I made a baste of olive oil, red wine vinegar and garlic.

2nd pic is of the two turkeys from last Thanksgiving.

Third pic is a little better pic of the whole setup.

Late lunch this afternoon – Vietnamese style spring rolls; they’re slightly gigantic, like small burritos:

And then a few hours later I was hungry, so some Asian-style dinner complete with banh cuon noodles, gai lan, Chinese sausage, and assorted appropriate veggies:

Vietnamese-influenced marinade for some delicious barbecued beef neck (an amazingly delicious cut of meat by the way!). Served with steamed brown rice and a crapload of spinach. Bon appetit!

Your pictures have much better lighting. Surely there has got to be a way to get better pictures with an iPhone… in fact my ex-girlfriend took much better foodie pictures with an iPhone than I apparently am capable of, but she never showed me how to do it. To this day I strive to excel in that area.

My gotos are: Naan and Curry and Vitality Bowl around here in San Jose. Gotta get back there. I like Chipotle too for some reason.

At home, always grilled fish now.

Thanks for the tip…… however the kitchen in my one bedroom apartment ain’t exactly set up for outdoor photography.

Meanwhile, onto tonight’s homemade pizza pictures:

Had some homemade dough in a sealed container in my fridge for over a month. Gee, it seems to have worked out just spiffy:
Pics of what you made for dinner tonight-img_7934.jpg

Of course employed the utility of my homemade vegan pesto sauce (voided the vegan aspect of the sauce with real cow-derived cheese on top though):
Pics of what you made for dinner tonight-img_7936.jpg

Carmelized some yellow onions in olive oil and the super-badass ingredient that my favourite foodie friend introduced me to: Three Crabs Brand Vietnamese fish sauce – THANKS!
Pics of what you made for dinner tonight-img_7938.jpg

Sliced up some California grown heirloom tomatoes of unknown species:
Pics of what you made for dinner tonight-img_7935.jpg

Straight from the 550°F oven after 12 minutes:
Pics of what you made for dinner tonight-img_7940.jpg

Sliced up and ready to serve:

I’ll bring the hot sauce. Bought some cherry bomb peppers that were hotter than expected. Turned them into a hot sauce instead of the mini rellenos I had imagined.

I just made my first real hot sauce. 5 Reaper peppers and 6 Scorpions, and some other 'filler' peppers not even worth mentioning (Habaneros, Jalapeno) ... it's like a 30 minute 'trip'...

    Perfect for two hungry adults:

    1 large onion
    1 large sweet potato
    1/2 can cooked black beans
    1/2 diced tomatoes
    1 small carton vegetable broth
    avocado
    small amount of fresh cilantro

    - Peel and coarsely chop onion
    - Scrub sweet potato and chop into 1/2" cubes

    - Heat large sauce pan with 2-3 tsp of olive oil on medium heat (hot not smoking)
    - Toss in onions and potato and cook for 7 mins (onions translucent / potato just starting to be tender).
    - Season cooking onions and potato with salt / pepper
    - Rinse black beans
    - Add 1/2 cup water, black beans, tomatoes, and broth to cooking onions and potato
    - Season with: chili powder (1/2 tbsp) / cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, coriander, paprika (1/4 tsp each) (All depends on how spicy you like it!)
    - Bring to boil, then reduce heat to simmer and cover for 11 mins

    - Remove from heat and re-season with salt, pepper.
    - Cut avocado in 1/4 inch strips
    - Remove stems, coarsely chop cilantro

    - Add chili, avocado, pinch of cilantro, dollop of sour cream, and hot sauce of your choosing to bowl.
    - Eat and drink a good craft beer
