October 22-25, 2018 Weekly Ride and Trail Conditions Report

Cooler weather is here, I rode today in long sleeves for the first time since spring. Should be some nice riding weather is most of NorCal this week, sans rain.

Photos and trail reports are appreciated.

Ok, lets mix this up. Before reporting on what you did, let's share what our intentions/goals are this week.

For me, two rides, one big, one small. Maybe a Fremont Older and a John Nicholas from the house.

I am racing a collegiate race at ST this weekend. So hopefully I can get out there Tues/Thurs after school for a little practice. I still havenít ridden my Sentinel anywhere other than SC. And on Friday I plan to do some shuttle laps at the secret spot for some good times.

Did you know Transitions frames donít come with any grease in the Pivot bearings anymore...

Ummm, they assemble it with no grease and then when you try to ride it, it makes lots of horrible creaking and cracking noises.

Big goal for me is to get out on a night ride in Marin Headlands one of these weeknights. I've been going through the procrastination dance for more than a week now, getting my bike set up and lights charging before leaving for work, need to suck it up and get out there. I know I won't regret it once I hit the trails.

Lake Chabot today, Water Dog Wednesday, Joaquin Miller Saturday... the usual suspects in my neck of the woods.

    Report yesterday... nothing.

Came off Mucinex D and got knocked out, congested sleepy.

That is all. A wee bit cold today!

Won't be riding the Tahoe area for awhile, so had to milk one. Jacks-Rose-Jacks via TRT-Tyrolean-Incline-Marlette, including 5-mi desert FR bonus.

I'm looking for weekday trail buddies in Donner / North Tahoe this week, and the greater greater greater Sac area in general. Tahoe Meadows to Tunnel Creek Rd is about the toughest trail I've done so far, so hoping to shred that level or slightly higher. PM me!

My goal this weekend is to ride one feature/obstacle that I usually avoid (session it until I nail it), or one trail I usually avoid.

Gotta keep the challenge up and get better/more confident.

We're headed North to ride Mt Shasta Friday, and then onto Ashland for the weekend. Ashland will be a first and I'm pretty excited to check it out.

I got my ride in!! 2 hours and got lost around the Sanborn Park area. Didn't have to go home in the dark so that was good.

Missed making/buying dinner though and it was my turn. Schyet.

All good. Feel so much better today.

Do you ever do short rides?

About 1/2 hour on the concrete today, trying to get up the nerve to jump this 6ft table top on my MTB. Didn't happen!

Heh, regularly! I think Ophir Creek from TM is around 9 miles. We shuttled it and had a blast last WE.

TahoeBC, some nice images and terrain. Were you on the to-Mammoth ride I heard rumblings about?

No was on a different route than Chris and was about 20 min behind him when he hit Charity valley, he knocked out a BIG one. Did Ophir last week also, such a fun trail, short reroute around that rocky stream bed and it would be all time!

Monte Bello OSP Ľ Sanborn Park ... and back

Caption is Monte Bello in the morning...or this is why you don't point the camera at the sun.

The familiar view from the John Nicolas Trail:

    Lake Ranch Reservoir...still empty:

What It Was Like Out There.ô

    The Chestnut Farm is open.

Besides chestnuts, they sell honey and here is one of the sample jars for tasting...ha, the bees want their honey back! If you're squeamish around bees then this is not for you. I bought one of these jars :-)

First night ride last night on a river side trail in my town. Was fun, spooky, and sketchy in equal measure. I think I need more lights.

Did it last night! Wish I had gotten more pictures, especially on the climb up Miwok to Old Springs, but I didn't want to stop as I wasn't really sure how long my lights would last. The moon was epic.

I just went up the Arastradero Bowl and sessioned this step down jump for 1/2 hour. I haven't jumped much at all in the past year since I hurt my shoulder, I suck! Timing is way off, glad no one was watching. Need to bring my shovel and make a better take off.
