    NorCal MTB X-Mas List

I'm thinking local shops are clearing out year end bikes? Any shopping bargains you're seeing?

What are you asking for? Endura Humvee Shorts for me, on sale.

I don't need anything in particular, but I lust after one of these and can't justify the cost:

    https://www.kitsbow.com/collections/...=4853792276515

I'll be waiting in vain for Kitsbow to put them on sale (or to run into someone locally who can give me the hookup - they're right down the street from me).

That's a heckuva shirt at that price. I'm just a sucker for wool, and for the beautiful workmanship of the Kitsbows. But they're crazy expensive so will probably never get one.

Have you found a deal on the Humvees? Your link just says that that model is discontinued. Looks like the new version is waterproof - time to stock up on the old ones! They are great shorts IMO.

Weird, looks like the link just changed! Oh, well, I will look for others....

That Wrangler shirt is awesome. I beat the hell out of it and it looks brand new.

Here are the best products I used in the last 12 months. I'm just thinking out loud here and I'll edit this list here and there.

    Shimano XT 4 piston brakes - $500
What: They're like XT Shimano brakes but with legendary power
Why: These brakes with 200mm rotors are so strong. It has that Shimano hard hit feel so you to modulate with pad contact feel and not lever movement. But they work the same day in and day out.

    NorCal MTB X-Mas List-screen-shot-2018-12-06-9.08.58-am.png

OneUp Components Dropper post - $200
What: Dropper post in 150mm and 170mm
Why: It's cheap but it's good quality from a good brand. It's got the lowest stack height and insert length of any dropper post so it will fit more frames at max length. And it can be shimmed so you can decrease travel by 1mm increments.

    SQLab 611 saddle and 60x
What: German saddles that are sized to fit and are multi-position
Why: It's not all preference. There's good saddles and there's shit. So hip bone sizing is good and this brand has it. The other thing it does well is offer staggered multi-positions. with distinct platforms on the saddle. It works well with dropper posts since the rider's sit bones are different when seat is dropped or raised.

    Specialized Levo 2019 - $4900-$12000
What: This is version 2 of the ebike Specialized introduced 3 years ago
Why: The old Levo is still relevant. This new one is what happens when you get more than a dozen Swiss engineers to improve it. Every part of it is better than the old and the base bike Stumpjumper is better. And it has price points from $4900 unlike the hallowed Pivot Shuttle

    Bell Sixer helmet - $150
    What: All mountain helmet
Why: Bell lost their way with early Mips and now they found it back. The fit on this is incredible. Mips is better now and doesn't affect fit and contact points. Vents are good and the visor is one of the best in history

    NorCal MTB X-Mas List-bell-sixer-mips-bike-helmet-fasthouse-matte-green-orange.jpg

    Leatt 2.0 dbxwindblock gloves - $35
    What: Fall winter gloves
Why: You're ok during/after a ride but your hands are white with no circulation. You hate winter gloves since you can't feel the bike. These bikes are insultated and windproof on top but the palm is thin as ever. Great bike feel but your hands don't freeze.

    NorCal MTB X-Mas List-screen-shot-2018-12-06-9.24.24-am.png

Bontrager Turbo Charger MTB Floor Pump - $120
What: big floor pump for mtb only
Why: Forever, we've been using road bike pumps. Tiny POS ones that go to 160 psi. This one is twice the size and it only goes to 60 psi. The result is you get 1 psi for every stroke on a 29er. And the guage is accurate since it is big with more resolution. Long hose and air bleed button too.

    NorCal MTB X-Mas List-12166_a_1_turbo_charger_mtb_pump.jpg

    Silca HX-One hex wrench kit - $125
    What: allen wrench porn
Why: Every time you use it, you feel good about wrenching
    NorCal MTB X-Mas List-screen-shot-2018-12-06-9.03.04-am.jpg

    Leatt Airflex Pro knee pads
    What: light knee pads
Why: their like knee warmers but will save your knees

p.s. i might use this for a story on this site. Give me more ideas

I cant blame you as this Kitsbow Icon Shirt is a great functional piece of gear. I was lucky enough to get a Mendocino Blue. The Wool works amazingly well and regulated heat beyond my expectations even when turning the furnace up on stiff climbs. The button snaps made it super easy to open up or close if needed. Thing is just so stylin!

For a small gift I am diggin these tire levers / chain link tool...personally have not tried but it is Seth approved!

For whatever reason I was extremely fortunate this year and I'm very thankful for that. I started riding a lot, more than I ever have. So in early February I was able to buy a new Scott Spark. Between then and now I rode about 1600 miles on that bike. My skill level increased greatly and I started riding things that I only thought I would ever be able to ride on my dirtbike. With the new found skills and confidence I started riding outside of the capabilities of the Spark. So, I somehow convinced my wife I needed another new bike in the same year. When these 2018 models went on sale for 30% off I couldn't not do it. So I bought this amazing Hightower.

My Christmas list has a collapsible fly rod I can carry on my bike.

A rain cover for my bike, so it won't get soaked in the back of my truck.

And underwear and socks. I ask for underwear and socks every year.

Since the new law takes effect soon -- ammunition. Get it while I can. (Not really a big deal, I travel out of state enough. I will still be able to buy ammunition in other states.)
So many trails... so little time...

Ooh, that looks good! After breaking my chain twice this year (which I have never done before - aargh SRAM Eagle!), it occurred to me that it'd be good to have link pliers on rides. These could be the ticket!

I love this watch/gps/etc. Now that the 5x Plus is out you can find the 5x on sale. Also HandUp gloves are my favorites. This picture was taken a few months ago, how can you tell?!!

Husky hot dog compressor and this Gizmo. About $170 for both but u can get a decent compressor for less than $100. Makes moving tire pressures around fun and super fast. The combo sits at the end of my garage filled and ready to go at all times. Plus an air nozzle for blasting.
