Need Santa Cruz info for July

Some buddies and I will be travelling to Santa Cruz sometime in July (exact date yet to be established but thinking a couple weeks after the 4th) and need some suggestions on trails and campgrounds. Some of us will be riding while others surfing, so anything close to the beach would be ideal. Also, my friend was told that all camping areas near the beach are pretty much booked for the summer. Any tips/tricks on picking up camp sites in S/C when everythings booked would be greatly appreciated.

state park. they just renovated the place, i dunno if they have opened yet tho but, theyr right off Park Ave; close to Nisene Marks for mtnbiking and close to Capitola for surfin. otherwise hmm...Sea Cliff, Big Basin, or Manressa, all state parks. nothing is very far from one another so i wouldnt sweat the distance too much.

if you all do manage so score a spot, lemme know and i may be able to hook up a ride wit ya'll. good luck.
