    Mission Peak PSA

Got stopped by Johnny law today at top of Mt Allison and was given a lesson on trespassing. Just a warning this time. Apparently the antenna site owner has been complaining about people going to the top of Mt Allison.

    How about Mission Peak itself?

Yeah, dont go to the antenna. There is a siren. Go straight at the trail fork. Dont go up the antenna. Surprised though that they actually had someone up there.

Not sure what happened. We used to go there for years.

Isn't there a bench on the other side of the antenna? So can you no longer go to the bench?

This is my question. Mission Peak itself has always been illegal but I've never been cited/warned in 30 years. Of course I never see a ranger there.

But with thousands of people hiking up there now, I'm wondering if there's more concern about bikers.

The portion of Allison that is private property is really small and starts right at the edge of the buildings on the side the road comes up.

Not what I was told. It starts at the bottom of the road where the sign is.

I've been followed down by a helicopter a few times and warned by bike patrol about riding off trail but never ticketed. I do know of people being lectured after the helicopter landed.

I avoid that place as much as possible other than lunch rides during week when I dont want go for a road ride. It's still technically dirt. Riding down from the top through the rocks isn't as much fun anymore due to the number of hikers with earphones that are always right in your line.

Yep, hikers and the law no longer makes this ride a destination. I'd rather ride Lake Chabot, up into Berkeley hills...

That's exactly my point. Whoever told you was most likely acting on incorrect info. They may have some agreement with the park to keep people farther away. Not that this matters much but it annoys me when people try to keep us off of our public land.

Rode up to Allison this past week. Alarm went off and it seemed like someone was actively monitoring the area as I heard someone on the PA saying something that wasn't part of the standard recording.

Anyway, on the way down a bat flew into my chest and saw a horrid looking spider at the lower gate.

    Awesome night ride.

Sometimes hard to decipher tone in text... So in case this is not a smartass comment EBRPD helicopters are white or silver and blue with "regional park police" on the tail.
