    MBOSC working on new trail

    Saw this on Instagram...

I'm sure there are some here who know the secrets. I'm not one of them, but I am guessing/hoping this is either in San Vicente Redwoods, or the rebuilding of Sawpit in Demo...

I'm not going to spoil the surprise.

"We have some big news to announce next week...The first part of building a new trail is designing it, based on prior environmental reviews, then submitting for approvals, and finally starting construction. The process goes back and forth many times with input from all “ologists” (biologists, geologists, soil scientists, etc) and can sometimes take years. We’re excited to be in the final flagging stage of a new trail project. This is where we get to flag the new trail corridor and determine the best route, after defining a range using GIS. GIS doesn’t point out really cool trees trail users will want to go by, or unannounced springs. We have to hike (and sometimes ride) lines to see what’s going to be the best possible option. All this to say, BIG news is coming next week. Are you excited?"

edit: if this is the project I think it is. There are a few in the works right now, one that is mtb focused and will be volunteer driven and the other is hiking only and can't be worked on by volunteers but comes with government funding for new equipment to be used on other projects.

Just made my largest donation yet. I have a feeling they're going to set some records with this one.
