ADVOCACY & OUTREACH INTERN

Job Summary

Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (MBOSC) is seeking a part-time Advocacy & Outreach Intern for our growing non-profit organization. Under the direction of the Community Outreach Coordinator, the Advocacy & Outreach Intern will assist with advocacy, outreach, and administrative tasks. The ideal person for this role will be someone who can work independently, and is a people-person who is excited about MBOSCís mission and values.
Time Commitment: 10-15 hours/week working remotely and at MBOSC office. Requires occasional weekend work at MBOSC events.
Dates: January Ė June 2019
Compensation: Negotiable

Responsibilities

Advocacy/Outreach:

  • Assist with and/or plan Super Swap (depending on hire date)
  • Solicit sponsors and industry players to attend Super Swap
  • Act as day-of Super Swap host
  • Help set-up booth and check-in all volunteers at 7 MBOSC Dig Days (see dates here)
  • Help plan and execute MBOSC Volunteer Appreciation Banquet (June 1, 2019)
  • Assist with outreach-related tasks for Old Cabin Classic
  • Attend Old Cabin Classic course pre-ride
  • Visit bike shops and local businesses with MBOSC posters and updates weekly

Administrative:

  • Send donor thank-yous each month
  • Prepare and send land managers waivers each month
  • Prepare and post volunteer report each month

Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency with Google Docs, Google Sheets.
  • Aware and excited about MBOSCís mission, goals, and 2025 Strategic Plan
  • Outgoing and good people skills
  • Excited about trail work!
