    A little healing for Redding...

A nice and diverse group of folks showed up today to work on the Westside Trails in Redding today. BLM and the City of Redding have been really busy the past couple of months doing hazard logging and nearly all trails that donít have a bridge crossing are open for business.

We planted a bunch of native grass and wildflowers seeds along with some acorns. Hopefully, if Mother Nature cooperates and rain comes in slow cycles those seeds will bear some beautiful results, even if only for a microscopic percentage of the land affected. We probably planted 2 to 3 acres total.....

We finished out the day with a nice 25 mile ride in the Swasey Recreation Area. Trails are great even with the destruction. Itís funny, Iíve ridden there a few times since the fire and it really seems like the new normal, itís sad but really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
Thanks to all who helped today and will do so in the future.

On the bright side, there are very few blind corners anymore. You can definitely see people coming.

    Wow. Surreal, indeed.

Good on you and your buds for the trail work, thank you.

That second-to-last shot is a real teller.

Edit: how come you changed your handle?
I wouldn't even get my hair cut except it's near the liquor store and it seems like my eyebrows need trimming now and then.

Bummer I missed this. I have done a few work days with Redding Trail Alliance, and what awesome guys. I love the Redding trails and sucks to see it burned, but has happened before and will happen again. I sure still enjoy riding them.
