If a dog wrote this TR

I spent the weekend at the BONC Trailwork dealio at Grouse Ridge. Built trail on Saturday, went on a solo adventure Sunday. Goal was to hit 4 trails I hadn't ridden before, and take inventory of the deadfall on Grouse Ridge (northern section). Really fun/hard ride, that just seemed to get better and better as the day went on... which got me thinking that my dog could write this TR

Very cool Jeff, Thanks for the great pictures as usual! It's been years since I've been off the top of Grouse going any direction. Let me know next time you go, I'd love to join you.

    Conditions report:

o Bull Pen Lake descent: 100% clear, heavy moon dust in places due to ranchers moooooving cows. Cow patties.
o Loney Meadows loop: 100% clear. Cow patties
o Bowman Mountain climb: <10 trees down on the climb
o Lindsay Lk Trail/Grouse Ridge Trail junction to Shotgun Lake: 13 trees down. Ok trail conditions otherwise.
o Shotgun Lake to Middle Lake: 30 trees down, pretty crappy trail conditions from lack of use.
o Middle Lk to Glacier Lk junction: 20+ trees down and fairly crappy trail conditions from lack of use.
o Glacier Lk to Milk Lk junction: 2 trees down, great trail conditions due to heavy use
o Milk Lk junction to Grouse Ridge summit: Excellent
o Grouse Ridge summit down to Blue Lk Trail: Only a handful of downed trees (thank you to who's taking care of this section!), very fun!
o Blue Lk/Beyers junction to the East: Clear until the water crossing, then a good 6 downed trees until the Fordyce drop.
o Spaulding Lk trail: I gave up counting downed trees... so many. The creative "ride overs" are nice but many are falling apart. Tried to fix some, but gave up.
o Upper Pioneer to Laings: 100% clear and 1000% fun

Glad you enjoyed the TR... kinda hard to do a great photo presentation when you're riding solo.

So did you ride the road back to your car or did someone give you a lift to the start?
Sometimes you eat the trail, sometimes the trail eats you.

You know it, Stripes! Conveniently hitched a ride with a kind tourist

Good eye, Matt! I re-checked my film and noticed this one, which shows Bigfoot a little better..

Sean - dropping Grouse to the south is definitely worth it now. Someone has done a great job clearing out many of the downed trees... still a few to contend with, but no biggie compared to what it was like 3-4 years ago. Very fun, somewhat primitive trail. Grouse to the north still sucks after the junction to Glacier Lake. Crooked Lakes is the better option for now.
