Wonder what times Category 3: Sport/One Speed/Clydesdale are pulling in?

Guess the time of 0:38:32 is out of the question for the course record....

I'll be there with bells on. My first time racing too. Should be fun. I'll be one of your direct competitors in Men's Vet 35-44 Catagory. We'll have to hook up and talk about how we are going to survive racing speeds on those trails I'm the one with a rubber chicken on my stem.

Stories: I officiated last year (free beer!) and where I was Weir rolled through relaxed, went a bit off trail, caught some air off a jump, got some table top style in the air then coolly rode off. The rest of the pros came through in race postion, teeth gnashing, grinding hard for any speed they could. All took a pass on the off trail jump. Weir broke the record again.

What is a little fuzzy is the evening festivities with the band in the street.

    Good times.

My best time not really trying was 1 hour 23 min.... So I'm hoping to pick that time up and get close to an hour... I also replaced the Cannondale Jekyll with a Santa Cruz Nomad so that's gotta be worth a few minutes right there !!!

    That is awsome! Any tips?

I am starting to fear the speed of 3rd divide and (I think) second divide where the flume trail cumbles away to one foot wide over a very high cliff and in a corner!

I have raced very little so I wonder how much I will be drunk with competition when bombing those hills. I've been known to experiment with the limits of speed and traction

18 and under DH and Jr Expert XC. Last year I did Jr X XC on a SS and lost by well over twenty minutes. Geared full suspension this time! I don't feel like walking half a mile uphill (or more) like I did last year.

I signed up for the 45+ Sport Downhill and the 45 Expert XC. This will be my first downhill race and 4th XC race. I've never been able to complete the XC race with out some serious cramping problems

just have fun! all I can say about those narrow sections is...I just look waaaay ahead and don't even think about 'em. If you can get to that first bridge within like 10 minutes you're doing great. Once you hit the road, click into your big ring and go like gangbusters, even on the last climb ( Lavezzola ) Great. Big. Circles.

no...I try to get one run in on the Thurs. before if I'm lucky. Racers passing you should do so safely and politely, and if you're in a space to move over that's helpful, or at the next nearest spot for that. When's all the snow gonna melt? If I could go in June that would be great but I doubt it.

I've never ridden the course before, but it sounds like fun! Are there any trails in the immediate bay area that are as technical as Downieville? Are parts of it anything like a Northstar double-black run?

The DV DH course has you riding through creek beds, over large rock beds and rock fields, bridges, shale, long narrow cliff side singletrack, drop offs, and pretty much everything else you can think of.....
