Guy with the respirator and blue bike

Your two friends riding electric bicycles on TRT between Mt Rose and Marlette Lake yesterday were indeed in violation of regs:

Check the linked maps on the first page I linked to see where you can legally ride them in the Tahoe Basin.

Good luck with that. The last two times I've been on that section I saw a total of 10 e-bikes. It was interesting to watch a few of the fumble around on the chunky uphill stuff. I guess watts doesn't equal skill.... Didn't bother me in the least and I had a nice chuckle as I passed them pushing their 50 pound rigs up a set of rock stairs that were pretty manageable.

"Guy with the respirator and blue bike"?

You sure it wasn't this guy? Watch out for him, he's an asshole!

Any mountain biker that uses a respirator, while his two friends use e-bikes, is a rock star.

I may not have the best of everything, but I have the best everything that matters.

He might be an asshole but in a race, he is a force to be reckoned with!
On MTBR, the reputation is infamous.

I'm confused. The person with the mask was riding a regular bike and friends were on e-bikes or person with mask and friends were all ebiking?

Gotta say congrats for the respirator guy going and getting a ride in.

Keeping ebikes off the bike legal sections of the TRT will be about as successful as keeping acoustic mt bikes off the trails on the north side of Lake Natoma (Folsom/Orangevale area)

^^ He said acoustic. (stealing that one)

Get used to disappointment, Mike. Sorry. I heard somebody this week recommend a Levo to a friend because "They look like a normal bike so you can ride them where they're not legal." They're popping up like cockroaches in the Bay Area--people with more money than skill.

Thanks for the insights, guys. Thought it was worth a post because these riders seemed to legitimately not understand that the reg applies to all types of electric vehicles.

Seriously this (unless it is Frank Booth).

The false premise behind the eBike hate is "oooo if we cave in and behave the Sierra Club will be nice to us". Wake up.

Good to know. I was wondering about this as I too saw a handful or e-bikes on the TRT recently. I'll be sure to act entitled and tell them to get off my trail like I've learned from heavyset, middle aged equestrian women.
Sometimes you eat the trail, sometimes the trail eats you.

    Thinking of buying a home?

What is an "acoustic bike"? Never heard this term before.
