    Gov't Shutdown Closes Georgetown Rides

Politics aside, government shutdown is really ruining my weekend plans!

Had planned to go to run shuttles Saturday in Georgetown with the good folks from California Expeditions (Home) but apparently the park has been closed on account of the shut-down.

Surely there are worse effects (some folks are really hurting), but none have impacted my mountain biking yet.

Is anyone else's (mountain biking) life being impacted by the the shutdown?

Does anyone know what other NorCal ride destinations are impacted?

If you had to pick one alternative ride within an hour of Georgetown that's NOT closed (or covered with snow) what would you suggest?

Closed just means you get the trails all to yourself.

RE: Georgetown, closed also means no commercial shuttle service.

And while it seems odd to my ignorant mind that they don't have the money to keep the park open but they DO have money to pay rangers to hand out tickets, apparently this is indeed the case...

The Rangers may be among a class of employees who are guaranteed back pay when the shutdown ends.

Hmm, yeah, I'll have to check to see if Hogan is closed. If so, I can ride there all by myself.

Oh, wait, I already do! Haw haw hawwww!

which if that's the case makes it even stranger that it would be closed.

There's absolutely nothing in G-town that can't be pedaled. Really easily for the most part. Get a map and ride.....

Tru dat. Its all road climbing to if you do it right. I don't think there's any gates there.

Great--have any ridelogs / strava routes to recommend?

This is my classic go to. You can make a route out of it to follow on your strava app. This is essentially 3 loops so you can add or subtract as you like. If you haven't been there make sure you have a route on hand and the trail forks app pre-loaded. It can be a bit confusing.
