    Glory Hole - New Melones

Rode this today for the first time. Dry, dusty and hot... but I loved it. The Tower Climb up was tough, but well worth it on the way down. Did Angels Creek, Buck Brush, Carson, Gold Rush, Frontier, and Tower. Hit a couple twice. Logged 20 Miles in just over 2 hours. Had a blast... would be a very cool ride in a little better climate... Gold Rush was the only disappointing ride...

They sanitized some trails last Spring. Great place to night ride. I am looking forward to my first night ride in about five years in a few months. Here is a real oldie video with imjps.

Try the LOGIN button. If that doesn't work, PM George da Trog.

... cost of a bad fast food meal, and this is way better for body and mind. Bargain, if you ask me.

Dang, I just looked it up, tho. 2.5 hour drive for me each way. The biggest expense of riding there is the cost of gas for the car, divided by how many mufuggers I can get to ride with me. Downside is, my car can only haul two bikes, unless I take my wife's Avant and throw the roof racks on there. 2 on the roof, 2 on the hitch rack.... Hmmmm... a plan is forming....

You're making me jones hard for a good burger.

I have to find a kick ass burger joint in Oakland. Sparky's is good, but not great. I want to find something like Phylis' in San Rafael.

If anybody knows anything, please let me know.

I'm not sure if it's South Berkeley or North Oakland, but I always enjoyed the Smokehouse on Telegraph a couple of blocks south of Ashby. Haven't been there in years, though.

They changed ownership. The new owners charge for condiments. A naked burger is like $5, but if you want lettuce and tomatoes on it, it comes to like $9. Pretty ridiculous. And... its not that good.

    *edit*

And I don't mind paying $9 for a burger if its a kick ass burger. IIRC, I typically drop $11 at Phyllis' for a mushroom burger with freshly battered onion rings (usually split an order with a friend) and a soda.

No ****, really?!? That's criminal. That place was one of my favorite dives when I was in school. I went there one night and there was a guy... with his 5-foot-long f*cking Burmese python, just chillin'. Ah, Oakland, how I miss you.
