front wheel = tight fit
front wheel = tight fit
I just bought a new wheelset and when I went to place in the fortk I had to pull the fork leg open a little bit to get it to sit right. The wheel rolls ok, but not as smooth as it should.
Is this typical? Any suggestions?

I wouldn't like the side load between the stanchion and the bushings. When I get a new front wheel or fork I check fit with the fork compressed. I've had to make adjustments myself in hub width, maybe .010in at the most. Sometimes just removing the paint helps. The skewer will also squeeze the legs together a little.

my WTB laser lite hub goes on very tightly against the Fox Van36 fork. It goes on after some small plying but doesn't create resistance.

Tried again today and it fits snug, but rolls great.
Thanks for the feedback.

Measure the Over the locknut length, it should be 100mm for most front wheels. If it's off, it may be a sign that the bearings aren't adjusted properly.

The bearings may not have been seated completely. I recently disassembled my front hub and when I put it back together, it took a couple compressions from the QR on the fork to get them to seat. I even had to flip the wheel around to get both sides seated. Now it's fine.
