Rain, then some more rain....but a break mid-week to get some sloppy-seconds rides in.

    What's your plan?

Gravel / non-trail dirt most likely with a good chunk of urban / curb riding. My son and I are working on manuals / wheelies so rain or shine I can do that!

3 day rain on already saturated soil. Kind of legendary. Just stay away from the purple areas until after many days of sun occur.

Other areas, use caution. This was a lot of rain and there's more on tap.

Hike the bad trails and help clear debris and clear standing water. If you see bikers ride them, talk to them.

I've received nearly 4" since last Thursday in the Salinas-area....

Toro Park trails are going to be CLOSED for a while. Myself & some buddies logged 9 hours of maintenance on Saturday working on drainage and re-establishing the bench on a lower section of Pipeline. The rest this week will do the trail good. Maybe working on it again next weekend.

Fort Ord's Western trails (8th & Giggling Rd.) will be good tomorrow/Wednesday.
Fort Ord's Eastern trails (Creekside Terrace) will be super-soft and sloppy in places for a couple of days. Especially after the pounding they received this AM.

Was able to get out this afternoon after work and before dark. Pretty much caught the golden hour at Lake Ilsanjo.

Rockville conditions were damn near perfect today, but pretty damn cold in the morning. Best wet weather riding spot in the bay imho.

Did 9 miles with my son and his friend at Lagoon Valley. Everything is green but cows are starting to really mess up the trails they have access to.

Thanks. I did a quick up and back, so I stayed on Canyon, then Lake and down Spring Creek.

Canyon has water in the usual spots, but not bad. Spring Creek has water flowing down the creek bed to cross. It's real wet under the canopy (and friggin cold!).

Having a difficult time getting myself to go out for a ride in these temps. By the time I get home from work, the sun is disappearing in the mountains and it gets down right frigid in a hurry. Driving me crazy because I have a new bike in the garage that has yet to make a maiden voyage and the weekend looks like shit again!

Thinking about leaving a road bike in my cubical at work so I can get out for a ride straight from work, rather than sitting in an hour of traffic to get home.

-Creekside should be Ok today (puddles in the usual places) but there's more rain coming!

    Fordinance

Creekside out to 49/50... first time in this section. XC heaven for sure.Trails 42 and 49 win it for me, fun little berms and some faster flowy sections. I looped and did 50, but I would skip that next time. Couple of good downs on 41. Glad not to be riding in the mud at home. Close to 20 miles I think (my phone battery died at the top of 41).

Bike in LBS for a week now for warranty updates. I hope they are successful soon, but the weather forecast is NOT improving! :-(

Sooo, I've been to the gym every rain day & that gets boring. At mid-day weekdays, not enough young scenery. ;-) Just us old-fat farts everywhere! GAH!!!

So I close my eyes & visualize riding with the hot bicycle rider I married ... in 1977. :-)

    Emma and UConn

Emma and UConn were good on Thursday with the CX. The flat stuff, even the service roads @ UC are wet! Dropping back down, and exiting out by the arboretum, almost required a snorkel and swim fins

Finally got out yesterday for the 1st ride on the new gravel bike. Road, mud, gravel, repeat. Great ride on a solid new bike! Even managed to get caught out after dark riding back around Alma Bridge and up Old Santa Cruz back to my house. No headlight with me and apparently the deer love to congregate in the middle of the road on blackout descents.

    Good times...

Wednesday the 6th on the Skyline Trail/JNT. I wasn't expecting this at all. It was sunny and 55° in SJ that morning.
