December 24-27, 2018 Weekly Trail and Ride Report

Looks like we will have a little rain and mostly great weather for much of NorCal this Christmas week.

Trail reports and photos always appreciated.

Light drizzle in Fort Ord, but still great. Lot of dead brush removed from trails, e.g. Otter Enduro 50 - much cleaner now.
But make sure you do your pre-ride poop at home:

Aptos was just about perfect, too. And no need for free-range pooping.

Rode my local trail to check on the cow damage. The trail has done been ****ed up! Super bumming. Iíll have my work cut out for me this spring . The whole trail had fog with sheets of rain periodically. Kind of a cool spooky vibe. Rode the trail bike instead of the Farley EX 8 since evidentially I didnít clean the Reign 2 after I rode it last!

I went for a family ride at Arastradero. One of my best rides of the year.

Rode Coe for the first time in 2-3 years. (And mostly new stuff to me). Perfect traction everywhere, and fun ride through the park. Following 90lbs shredder Wyatt around all day, giving me a nice tour.

Generic Tamarancho loop from the SplitRock T&W including a quick grind up top of White Hill for some clear 360* views of the bay area. Other than a few miniscule puddles the trails are in pretty good shape considering. 👍
Wait whuuut, who did he tell you that!?!?....

Monday the rain was late again. 3 laps of Lime. Muck in just a few places. Hero dirt elsewhere.

Critter central: coyote with dead bunny in mouth on trail, 3 small birds fly down slope across trail & pursuing big-ass hawk nearly wiped my nose! And finally chased another coyote 200 feet down fireroad before he bailed. Wheee!

Good sun Tuesday & Wednesday. Waiting for buddies to ride there again today. :-)

Saw a coyote near the water barrels at UC yesterday try to lure some dudes dog into the forrest where at least 1 more coyote was waiting to ambush. Kinda gnarly and would make me reconsider walking my dog off leash in the woods. If your dog was small, or old as mine is they would seem vulnerable. Pretty huge bummer to think about your dog just getting taken out right in front of you while on a relaxing hike.

So I got out there. I rode hard then hit a wall. Persevered through and fought through the lactic acid tried not to shift to my granny. Raised my saddle and had a snack. Got out of the saddle for the final push.

It was tough but I made it to the trail entrance.

What happened next was pure misery. Effin wind and excess holiday desserts!December 24-27, 2018 Weekly Trail and Ride Report-img_1570.jpg

    Demo Forest today

3 fallen trees on Flow trail in the upper sections and lots of debris.
Braille is good, not so much debris.

No mud but windy and really cold.

Amazing. There were no obstructions last weekend. Those trees mush have just fallen. Sounds like a very dangerous place to be today.

China camp on Xmas day. Great dirt with just a few puddles. Ran into Griz who showed me some stuff. Griz first showed me China Camp 5 or 6 years ago and first time riding together since.. good time. .
