    .

Just for giggles, I ran a mtbr Seach for "spell check". Care to guess what turned up?

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1024 bytes) in /data/data01/web/html/files/search.php on line 878

I think you have to do a search for "spell," then a search for "check," then cross-reference the results.

    Wont catch grammar errors

Wow, this is so politically out of bounds. Didn't you know it was against the unwritten internet rulebook to correct spelling or grammar, even if it makes the post impossible to comprehend?

Spell check will never catch errors where you don't use the right word but you spell it right, like:

    - then/than
    - Rigid/Ridged
    - disc/disk
    - many, many others

But it will catch all the mispellings of hydraulic, which is good.

Spell check is pretty funny sometimes. It gave General Coonskins on the SS board his handle. He typed up a ride agenda and said the particulars would be up to the 'general consensus', but he misspelled consensus and it changed the word to coonskins and it went out that way. Pretty dang funny.

How's an English Major supposed to get a good laugh anymore. I love reading through the posts looking for all those new and misused words just for the sheer joy of giggling. Finchy is my favorite. He can truly corrupt anything.

That explains a lot. At least we're not expected to use High English on here. Some guys would cramp just typing all those forty letter words.

That makes sense ( I easily read your sentence!). When people read, they read by the shape of the words, not by reading all the letters of each word. THAT IS WHY READING SENTENCES IN ALL CAPS IS MORE DIFFICULT TO READ.

I can deal with the occasional accidental spelling error (or even deliberate one), what drives my nuts are the people that are to stupid to work the shift key either way. Some time ago they also invented these wonderful symbols called punctuation. Some people are either too stupid or too lazy to use them.

I've given up on trying to interpret crap posts and criticizing doesn't seem to help. So now if someone throws up a post that looks like it was written by an illiterate I just assume it was, ignore it and move on.

I'm with you on this one. I have someone here at work higher up on the food chain that uses absolutely no capitalization nor punctuation in any of their emails. It's obnoxious!
