Condition of East Bay trails this weekend Jan 18-21?

Have anyone ridden Crockett Hills, Fernandez Ranch, JMP? Anything to report? Trails rideable or should be avoided?

    Thanks

Crockett Hills probably won't be rideable for a while. It's all clay.

I've never ridden Fernandez ranch, but assume it's the same soil type that is impassible in wet conditions.

JMP does better, but I'm betting there are downed trees after all the wind.

    Rockville is your best bet.

I do some unsanctioned trail maintenance (building water diversion and drains) and went out yesterday to see what the latest storms had wrought. Was disappointed to see bike tracks across several of the diversions that gave water a new path of least resistance - straight down the trail causing rutting. The reason I do trail maintenance is that, with limited resources, EBRPD's solution to a badly rutted trail is to bring in the mini-dozer, a disaster for every user group for months until the trail packs in again.

After the soaking we just had the ground is very soft and pliable so please show some restraint and refrain from riding the soft stuff until it can firm up a bit. And if you are going to hike it, do so knowing it is going to be muddy and try not to avoid the mud by walking around the wet stuff and thereby widening the trail.

A little restraint today could make for fabulous riding in a couple of days

Please stay off of all East Bay trails this weekend. Ride your road bike, go for a run, watch some football, etc.
