College Park needs a girls MTB team!

My wife gave birth to a beautiful little girl named Maya Elizabeth on April 24 at 11:32am. She weighed 6lbs, 6oz - or for you weight weenies, 2904 gms.

She was delivered by c section so my wife and Maya only just came home today. The avatar was a cute pic that I took but more pictures are here.

You'd better believe that she's going to be riding as soon as she can walk!

    Very Promising.

From what I can tell so far she has her breathing down, her head up, and her eyes further up the trail. The helmet seems to be missing, though.
    Congratulations!

Maya's actually my 3rd, although the first with this wife. My first 2 are already mountain bikers.

... that's what those Burly trailers are for! Training weight! As she gets bigger, you get stronger, right?

One of the phrases passed down through my family that I now refer to as "farmisms" is, "If you start by lifting a calf, eventually you are lifting a cow."

    Good job! Congratulations!

Tired and Happy. That's how you look in the picture, and how I sort of remember it myself - 3 times.

Your thread title is too obtuse - only caught this great news from the link in the other thread. You need a title like "Baby Dan'ger"

Go slow on the Burly. The kid needs a year before the neck is strong enough. I did some slow (under 15 MPH) short rides on smooth paved trails before then, and only then with the kid strapped in a very supportive infant car seat in the Burley. Parent first, biker second.

Edit: Of all your pics, I most like the one K-max posted: The happy family that was just made.

It's not slow, it's doing more MTB time.

Thanks for all of your wishes. Mamma and baby are home and well although as one would expect following the first night, mamma and I are exhausted. Can't really complain since Maya's such a gem!

I haven't really put much research into a Burly yet - got plenty of time for that but B.L.'s idea of fitting a car seat sounds really good. Even that is a few months off.

I imagine that she'll be dropping me on the uphills in no time!

I'll see you all on the trails in a few months! In the meanwhile, I've got to stay local.

    new addition

    Congrat's Dan,
I hope father time doesn't cut too much into riding time.
Eventually you'll be able compbine the two.
Be sure to check out trips-for-kids/recyclery in San Rafael for cheap kiddie trailers.

Heck, why not a Valley View Middle School team?

Hey Dan, great job! Hope you still manage to sneak in a ride every so often.
