    Calling all PINECREST locals....

I hope to make a trek up to Pinecrest the weekend of August 2nd/3rd. Any locals up there wanna ride? Sure would love the company and the knowledge. I am a pretty good rider but prefer the long flowy trails up there rather than the non-stop, unrelenting technical thing I happened upon a few years back. I love technical riding but that one trail was just too damn much for too damn long. I'll be on a heavy Mojo HD built to descend but can climb for miles and miles...or shuttle. hehe.

Also, any recommendations on camping spots would be greatly appreciated but I can look it up.

PM me or post here if you think we can hook up some AWESOME Pinecrest awesomeness.

    Thanks!!!
I'm not sure how this works.

Chunk free riding is asking a lot. There's always a trade off. Long flowy, here, means the DH only lasts about 30 min.

    Need more info.

Describe a DH dream trail(% of flow vs chunk) and time you're willing to climb out or shuttle.

I can imagine which trail beat you up, there's quite a few. But the old faithful, Pinecrest Peak, has 75%flow and 25% chunk.

SORRY...completely misrepresented myself here. I LOVE chunk. I LOVE technical! I am an advanced rider and can descend the gnar all day. There was just this one trail up there (I think it was the East side of lake?) where it was fun for about an hour but then it just got old. It was non-stop technical, almost to the point of trials riding...I think average speeds were in the 3-5mph range? Anyhow, it was a cool trail and I liked it (to a point) but I do like to get a mixture of tech, speed, and huck (if it's available). Pinecrest Peak was AWESOME! Loved that trail...but I recall wishing it had more tech and less flow...and more things to jump off of.

Anyhow, hope this helped. I can climb all day but will be on a somewhat heavy bike (35lbs) with flats so if there is a more light bike, hammer thing going on, I might be an impediment. I do about 600,000 footies a year so not slow but not a big fan of hammering either. I think Dave has some rides in mind that are right up my ally!!! Thanks and I am free both 27th/28th and 2nd/3rd so might make it a dual trip...I already did DVille this year but was thinking of going again or N* for on of those weekends. A dual PCrest weekend sounds pretty epic too. Decisions, decisions!

I hope to ride with Dave one or two of those days in July. The ride to Sand Bar Flat from his place is great. The ride back, not so much. Another fun one is Eagle Creek Trail, but the payoff is at the end. There's a few more. Hope to see you on the trails.

Likewise! I rode with Dave last night and he tells me you guys are the ones to follow if you like to get the wheels off the ground. That would be me. You guys should come down and ride SC with me sometime...well worth a trip.

Wife and I are planning on "camping" at Seacliff Tues-whenever. An early half day SC tour of something would be nice.

We'll hook it up! there are some trails to be ridden, that's for sure. I can probably sneak out for some loops if stars align.

Hey Fred... sorry for the interruption... still want to ride with you at Pinecrest. Let's talk or email or FB soon Very nice what you all did last weekend

Hi squashyo... not sure if you remember me but I lived and rode in SC for 12 years. Not there now and do miss it at times. Living in Groveland now, near Yosemite. Working on a mtn bike only trail system in the Stanislaus Forest with the US Forest Service. We may have 500 acres to play with! Waiting for NEPA... stay tuned!

I know how far away that lake is. Does your camera have hella zoom? Thanks for sharing.

I rode Pinecrest last Summer with a group that big...way too many people. 3-4 riders sounds perfect.
