    From BTC President Mike Udkow

    Hi Weekday Riders,
Since many of you are free during the day, I was hoping to get a few of you to come to the EBRPD Board meeting this Tuesday at park HQ here in Oakland at 1pm.
In a nutshell, with the support of the biking community and many involved parties, EBRPD spent 3 yrs putting together a Land Use Plan for the Sibley/McCosker land parcel. At the last minute, the anti-bike groups have joined forces in demanding that bikes be excluded from the proposed multi-use trails, or they will sue.
    DOES THAT PISS YOU OFF!
Each speaker at the Board meeting will be given 2 minutes. If you can come, you can either voice your support for the LUP as written, or concede your time to me or one or the other speakers. Two min isn't much time!
It should be an interesting meeting.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Did the "anti's" give any rationale for their planned lawsuit?

They have done this twice in Marin in the last couple of years. The county paid their law fees too. It's a win win for them. We pay to sue ourselves.

But what is the legal basis?
Surely they need more than the "Golden Rule" ("We have more gold, so we rule")?

They are claiming that there wasn't enough pubic comment time,a flawed E.I.R. and other BS.

I should be able to come out, don't have any set engagements at work that day. How long do you think the whole thing will take? I need to figure out how much time to block on my calendar.

Also, is there bike parking at their HQ? I'm coming from SF downtown, so it'd be easiest if I can just take my bike on BART and ride to HQ.

Bicycle Trails Counsel. of the east bay.
They are the most active advocates in the bay area and do the most legal trail work. They are also working hard to get a pump track built.
Not on the same level as santa cruz though.

The schedule (posted at https://www.ebparks.org/about/meetings/default.htm ) says this segment (2, which includes this and another issue) is from 1:30 to 2:00. I don't know how much time they expect to have it start at / run over.

HAVING PEOPLE AT THESE MEETINGS OFTEN MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.

(If I was available, I would attend... but cannot. Just sent a note to the clerk as per https://forums.mtbr.com/california-n...t-1091800.html . )

To be fair the BTC and the Santa Cruz riders work with two totally different land managers. The BTC mostly deals with the EBRPD ,If you look at what the BTC has been able to do with the city of Oakland at JMP I believe the BTC has done well. There will be more to come with the EBRPD in the future .

50 50 bike to crazy bike haters. I took my 9 year old. Mike gave a well worded and composed rebuttal. I tried to tie in the doing it for kids. The board seemed receptive. The strong ground work and colaberation with the btceb seemed to help.
