    Bike thieves strike again.

This sucks, hard. I've been in the HUB several times, and Stephen is a really nice guy who is doing a real service to our community. Fukcing bike thieves.

I'd cut 'n' paste the article, but the site won't let me, but the gist is that thieves keep breaking into a local donation-based organization who provide free services to local cyclists who are down on their luck. Arrrrgh. Makes me want to sit in the shop at night and wait for it to happen. They really need to secure the place better.

It is interesting that someone would steal a bike from a charity that gives them away for free.

Right? Maybe they HAD to have a bike at two in the morning to make that meth deal.

I live in Oakland, are there any charitable bike/parts schemes here?

I have a bunch of random parts I would like to donate like a non-boost 27.5 wheel-set, bars, stems etc.

Or are there any groups building up mountain bikes for underprivileged kids?

Hi shapethings, I'm one of the coaches of the Oakland Composite high school mountain bike team. We're 14 years old, and have now launched ten teams, helping to fill in the east bay with #morekidsonbikes. For the 2019 spring season we'll have about 18 kids (still recruiting) and the local Oakland teams we've launched will have well over 100. Bike parts are something we can re-give to the kids, but while I have your attention, what we'd really like are more coaches, ride leaders, and help spreading the word, especially to girls and kids of color. We'd like our teams to look like our actual population, but mountain biking tends to be a niche, culturally.

Please use the contact form at https://oaklandcompositemtb.com/contact/ to reach us. We'll get your parts to kids who can use them. Larger donations merit a letter of receipt from our 501c3, which can be used for taxes.

    Thanks for the heads-up, Aaron.

    Morgan

Im trying to procure a small boost hardtail frame if you know. In el dorado hills area. Going to build it with all donated parts and give to a kid who wants to race for his school team. Feel free to PM me if you have one or know a good place to start.

I was going to buy used but canít find anything in my budget.

Word of caution... make sure you get your tax receipt when you're there, because they won't email it to you like they say they will. At least I think I'm remembering right from when I donated to them circa 2012 or 2013.

I realize this is asking a lot but if anyone has a small 27.5 frame they would donate, please message me. Prefer FS but HT is fine. Prefer carbon but alum will do. Something five or less years old please. We have boost components and all of the fixings, just need a frame. We're donating it to a boy that wants to ride for his school's team, up here in Folsom area.

If you have a frame you are selling, please let me know too.
