Anything rideable around SLO this weekend ...

    Hello,

we may end up on a short notice trip to SLO tomorrow. It's probably going to be hot, and from what I've seen there's little shade. Some trails are apparently pretty trashed by now too. So what would be a good place for a 2-3h ride, if there is any ?

    Thanks,

I would go to Montana De Oro. Right on the coast. Excellent singletrack. Here is a link http://www.slostateparks.com/montana_de_oro/default.asp and also do a search here on Mtbr for the good stuff.

It hardly got over 70 here at the coast today. I live in Los Osos and ride into MdO from home frequently. That would be a good choice, though inland is fine at under 85 degrees if you go early.

I like to ride up the hazard peak trail and then bomb down east boundary to islay cr road. That loop takes about an hour for me. Haven't been on the north side of the park much. Watch out for hikers or horses on east boundary.

    Thanks guys,

we did ride in Montana De Oro, up Ridge/Hazard Peak, over to Barranca and down, up East Boundary (that part sucked a bit ...) and back via Ridge.

Nice change from our usual riding between trees, being 6 ft there are no surprises around the corners. Weather was foggy and cool in the beginning so the climbing wasn't too bad.
