    XT Disc Fade

    Hi guys,
I've got a specialized stumpy pro 2005 which comes with XT dics as standard. However ever since i bought the bike the front brake has never really had as much power as it should. The front brake squeals really badly as well. I've cleaned the disc rotor with methylated spirits and even washed the pads in simple boiling water - but no noticable difference.

The wierd thing is that when i squirt water on them - they work amazing, loads of power and bite. As soon as that dries off - they fade and squeal again.

The rear brake has been great - until today and i took the wheel off for the first time in ages and now it has faded loads too...although i am sure i didn't get anything on the rotor.

any ideas? or do i just need to replace the pads and start again?
    thanks.

Get the disc tabs faced. Remove glaze from pads. Reallign.
