    when do i bleed my brakes?

    Alright just when do i know i should bleed my 2007 xtr brakes? should i do after using it for a set amount of time or when i feel something?

    When the brakes feel squishy. If the lever travel is inconsistent. Stuff like that.

    Well you're supposed to do it in cars every year or two because brake fluid is hydrophilic (it absorbs water even through the brake lines). Then the water can heat up and steam/boil and bad things can happen, but if they feel fine then I wouldnt worry at the moment.

    Shimano brakes use mineral oil. That's not an issue.

    And actually no. The moisture is absorbed by the DOT fluid. So the boiling point of DOT fluid is lowered, but you won't have catastrophic failures from pockets of air forming... Unless you're vaporizing DOT fluid...
