    Ugh brake squeal...help!

Alright so I just bought a 2011 Cannondale Trail SL 3 (great bike, love it) and took it on a short 10mi ride the day I got it. It came with Tektro Draco SL Hydro's (which I know are entry level hydros, but when you weight 145lbs they will stop you quick). Now since I have never had a bike with hydros I instantly loved them, and the stopping power was tremendous. About a half an hour into my ride after a lot of heavy braking I noticed a faint squealing noise coming from the brakes, and it progressively got worse. Now honestly it is not that loud at all and is not that bad to ride with them, but are they supposed to be quiet when braking or just have a little noise. So as you all know I am a noob with hyrdos and not used to them at all (upkeep and maintenance) and not sure how to fix this small problem.

Some discs are quieter than others. If you do lotsa downhills, or get them wet, or have glazed pads/rotors then they are more likely to squeal. The easiest way to fix the last problem is to take out the pads and sand them with some medium grit paper - the rotors are also worth a brief sanding too.

you can try a light dusting of some graphite - the brakes will feel slippy at first, but then will bed in.
Washing/alcohol will take this away somewhat.
    Honestly... ahh I give up

thanks for the help. ill try those solutions tomorrow before my ride. i think im gonna use the alc, and if its still bad after the ride go to the sanding. Is it just a very light rubdown with the sandpaper?( on the pads and rotors)
