    Straightening a hose

What is the best way to get a new disc brakes hose straightened out?? They are so coiled up in the packaging its hard to get them to lay nice and straight. Thanks!

Check Sheldon Brown's site - he may have left us a solution for this.

If you haven't already, I would just mount the cable to the bike, and tape it in place overnight if the curls are causing problems or just looking messy - the cable may lay flat once you remove the tape. Once the cable is installed, you also might have better luck working the curls out.

Usually it needs to be unwound. You can also hang it. And blow dry it a bit.

I just hang mine for a day or 2 from the brake lever. Works fine.

I just use a hairdryer, to heat the hose a little. Allows you to make all kind of twists or straighten the hose
