If you are even OK at wrenching I would say it's worthwhile to invest in a bleed kit and learn to do it yourself. I've seen outragous shop prices for brake bleeds and I couldn't see myself paying for the service. I've got avids and find it quite easy to do. Takes a little practice at first but it no problem. Also saves me trips to and from the shop not to mention having to waits a few days.
