    Noob question about Elixir 5s

I just got my first real mountain bike. It came with Elixir 5 brakes. The guy at the store made me wait while he set everything up and tested it out, so it should be all in order. However I have noticed that the front brake won't seize the tire no matter how hard I pull. I used to enjoy stopping both tires and sliding a bit on my old bike with regular caliper brakes. My question is , is this how it is supposed to be?? The back tire I can bring to a complete stop and slide about, but not the front.
    Thanks for your help.

it takes a few hours of riding for the pads to glaze the rotor, which will increase stopping power immensely. Give it a few miles of riding and they'll stop on a dime. It happens everytime you clean your rotors as well. Good luck
