Need New Brake System For Old Bianchi: Image Added!

A friend of mine gave me an old Bianchi. It needs some work but it appears to be fixable. The biggest issue is it's brakes. The entire system needs to be replaced.

It's got the very old style rim brakes where a single cable is split into two cables just before it reaches the calipers.

Will a modern style V-brake system fit and operate on this old bike???

I have attached an image of the old brake system...

    Thanks,
    'hawg

Yes, v-brakes use the same mounting posts as cantilever brakes.

Nothing wrong with a nice set of well-tuned cantlilevers either. I bought a very clean old 96 Bontrager Privateer recently that was equipped with the last version of XT canti's (mid 90's).

I was originally hell-bent on replacing them with V-brakes, but after getting in some trail time I am leaving them in place because they work great!
