    Loud mecanical discs

Just wondering how loud new brakes should be. New bike, probably 20 miles on it. Brakes work amazing but are very loud when using them lightly.

Not uncommon. Any disc brake, including hydros, will be a bit noisy with light application when new. As the pads burnish and smooth the rotor pad contact surface they'll get a bit quieter. But even then light application will be noisier than a firm pull on the brake.

Riding on wet days will also be pretty loud regardless. If the brakes don't also shudder or do some other weird thing, it's not something I'd bother trying to change.

Did you 'run' the pads in? or brake-in the pads as some would say?

ie Pedal up as quickly as you can then do a quick but controlled stop, no locking of wheels. Do that for the front 20 times, then 20 times for the back.

Yes i did some hard repetitive stops. The bite was much better after doing that. But still abit loud. I will just wait it out and see if it gets abit better. Thanks
