    hope mini power clamp

I have an older hope mini disc brake caliper that are in two halves. I have not used it yet, but I have read a few things about the caliper seperation and loss of power, so my questions follow as thus:

    1. Do i need these power clamps?
    2. where the heck do you get these power clamps?
    3. How much do these powe clamps cost

Woooops, i meant to say caliper not clamp

If you use these brakes as intended use, XC then you should have no issue's,
fitted a set to my son's bike a couple of years ago and they where s/hand then,
never had an issue with them,if your concerned about seperation then I suggest
you check the caliper half bolts from time to time, unless your a DHer then
I don't see the need for those clamps and if you do then you've got the wrong brakes for you.

Have you tried this yourself, do you think it will work as well as the custom one does ?

It works fine. It just looks ghetto. If anyone ever finds one of those clamps for sale...please let me know.

    Speedgoat Used to Make Them

I too had read all the reviews about the caliper halves separating under heavy breaking. So, I didn't take the chance and ordered a set of the power clamps from day 1. I can't say whether or not they make a difference, but I don't want to remove them just to see.

I don't know if they still stock them or not, but I got mine from Speedgoat. Even if they don't have them in stock, I'm pretty sure they were made locally for them. I'd shoot them an email or give them a call to see for sure. They are a good bunch of folks and are always willing to help out when they can.

    Good luck.
