    Help Please

Ok here's the deal... I'm trying to figure out if my brake calipers and levers are still good.

My bike has been sitting in storage for the last 4 or so years. The brake lines are dry so I'm guessing that there must have been a leak some where. I was planing on replacing the hoses, brake pads, and bleeding the system but do not want to waste money buying all of this stuff if the levers and calipers are bad. Is there any way I check to see if the calipers and levers are still good?

As far as the brake system goes its a Hayes Hydraulic System that came with the bike. I got the bike in 2002/2003.

I'd just fill it up, bleed it and see how it goes. That'll cost you a couple of dollars and 20 minutes. You can then determine where the problem is.
