    Elixir XX vs. Elixir CR Mag

    Just trying to figure out the difference between these two brakes other than graphics and the rotors. How do the Elixir XX weigh nearly 50 grams lighter??

    The XX rotors only save 14 grams over the G3 rotor.

    The caliper/levers look essentially identical. Are they actually any different??

    Help please!!

    I know the XX has Ti bolts everywhere, and the CR mag has steel. There is also a slightly lighter carbon lever, and I'm assuming the body for the both the lever and calliper are different - certainly the hose attachment into the calliper is on the outside of the body, not the wheel side.

    The rotors I beieve are only 8 grams lighter each (96 vs 104), so there's a big chunk of weight still to take into account.

    There's still no verified weights on WW yet for a F&R complete set, so the 290g is not yet official.

    The CR mag has a magnesium lever body and an aluminum caliper, whereas the XX has both a magnesium lever body and caliper.

    estimate:
    rotor = approx 10-12g difference
    ti rotor bolts = 6g
    pads (both alloy backed but sintered vs. organic) = few g
    alloy vs. mag lever body/master cylinder = assumed 20g difference
    total = approx 40g difference
