    Disc setup question

I haven't bought a bike in a while, however, I'm building up a hardtail with a 1 X 9 setup. I've got my eye on a hardtail frame with the disc mounts on the lower chainstay(older trek model). Is there a reason NOT to go with a disc setup like this, versus the disc caliper on the end of the frame? I'm wondering if this design is outdated and if parts are available for this frame. Thanks for any thoughts. GNR

I forget the name of that arrangement but it is very hard to find calipers. I believe Hayes is the only one that made brakes for that style.

A2Z make adapters that will convert the parallel mounts on the Trek to International Standard. http://www.a2zcomponents.com/ada.htm
