    Centerlock and avid bb5s

    Hi All,

I got a good deal on a centerlock wheelset that I could not pass. The problem is that my bike is equipped with the stock bb5 brakes… Not bad so far but have almost 2 years of abuse and in need of new brake pads. Is anybody running shimano centerlock rotors with the bb5s? Should I just upgrade the brakes too? I was looking at the cl-6 bolt adaptors but for what its worth I think its cheaper to buy new rotors.

Centre lock is a fine system, lighter (overall wheel/rotor), way easier to change and remove (add a dab of grease to the splines when you assemble).

Should be fine with any disk brake system.

The Shimano brand rotors are a different thickness than the Avid rotors, so you might see a brake pad contact to rotor issue. But the upside is that Avid makes centerlock rotors.
