    brake adapter sizing?

I bought a second hand set of Shimano XTR hydraulic brakes. The front caliper came with an adapter that lines up perfectly, but the rear caliper did not come with an adapter. The bike has a post mount rear as well. I can't find any information on what size the caliper mount is or what size the post mount is. How can I decipher these figures? What measurements need to be taken?

    Thanks
    Zack

post mount dont require an adapter (for 160 rotors) ... just bolt the caliper to the post mounts
I used to ride to Win ... Now I ride to Grin

While my guitar gently weeps, my bike sits there mocking me

should say on the side of the caliper what size it s for
    for instance BR-M 975 R160 = rear 160mm with no adaptor

    the adaptors are similarily marked
    sm-ma-f203p/s = front 203 post caliper/ standard fork
