Best replacement pads for Avid BB7

Hey....worn out the stock pads on my BB7. Anyone have any opinions about the best replacement pads to use?

I have tried just about every Avid-compatible pad under the sun and honestly the stock Avid C4 pads are about the best. If you liked them, I would stick with them. If you had a particular gripe, squeak up and we can find a pad that addresses it.

Iv'e been using the EBC golds on my 29er and pugsley. They are very grabby and long lasting, but every once and a great while I'll get some brake fade, but thats on the big hills(5-8 min of on and off hard braking).

Thanks so much. I think my challenge is all my experience is V-Brake based. So far these rock.....they do seem to be wearing out quickly.

Galfer are my favorite followed by EBC Gold. I only use the (stock) Avids in new brakes until the wear out. OK but wear quickly, have been inconsistent quality and not as good overall as the first 2.

I hated my Galfer pads for Avid. Super squealathon. The EBC Gold pads are good though. Very good.

Did you clean the rotors with emery paper and water? Highly recommended anytime you change pad compounds.

A good wipedown with alcohol and when that didn't work I did a few torchings, sandings, and shakings of chicken bones over the bloody things.

Only a thorough sanding will remove the old pad compound
