    that annoying squeal... errrrrr

OK,I'm pretty damn good at mechanics and figuring stuff out, but, I can NOT for the life of me get rid of the brake squeal on my front brake.

    • changed...
    • rotors
    • rotor size
    • pads
    • pad materials
    • calipers
    • Caliper mount
    • cables
    • rotor bolts

even tried that crappy "squeal out" stuff which worked for like 1 ride
I'm beginning to think it's the fork and/or the hub...? anyone else running a Reba SL 29er with a hope Pro 2 hub? and can't get rid of the squeal?

I've learned to love my squeal. It sounds like SquaaaAAAAAARRRkk on my bike. I like to think it helps keep the bears away.

well the one good thing is it lets people on the trail know when I'm coming up behind them... but I'd rather have an old bike bell

    Harmonic vibration

you could campfer the leading edge of the pads, or try some graphite powder (*note - a little goes a long way and you will initially have some decreased braking untill that beds in and is only temporary - water washes most off)

I've been curious if some gasket material (for heads, manifolds etc) placed between the disc and hub would dampen harmonic vibrations for some people - I currently don't have that problem, but if I did I would certainly experiment w/ it.
    Honestly... ahh I give up

done that, put electrical tape between the pads and the caliper and it helps a tad, tried a few layers between the rotor and hub and also from the mount and fork.. no deal...

Like I said, i'm usually pretty good at going through step by step and isolation the issue.. but I'll be damned if I can fid it here... I'm really beginning to think it's the fork/hub combo.

ya,.. thought of that, but finding someone close with a 29er, same sized rotors, aligning then going for a ride long enough to seat them...
