    yet another "which bike" post

Ok, so I just moved to Bend, OR from FL and am looking forward to mtn. biking in central Oregon. Unfortunately, my Enduro Expert was stolen the first couple days hear. Now I'm looking at getting a new (to me) bike.

I'm 5'10" about 215lbs. right now, need to get back in shape. Not real sure what the riding in the area is like. I'll probably use the bike to ride around town, or maybe to the college and back on nice days. Otherwise I've always been more into XC riding, honestly the Enduro was probably overkill for me, but had gotten a good deal on it. Being in the Northwest though will probably be my first real "mountain" biking compared to FL. Want to spend as little as possible but still get a quality bike (no more than $1500 max.).

Right now I'm trying to decide between a 26" FS or a 29" HT, not sure which is better suited to the area. Maybe you can help me out, here's what I'm looking at:

1)'09 Rocky Mountain Hammer 29" Geared MED. $1,100

    2)'08 Cannondale 29'er 2 MED. $1,100
    http://classifieds.mtbr.com/showprod...=40185&cat=fav

    3)'08 or '09 Gary Fisher X-Caliber 29" MED. $1450

or 4)'09 Cannondale Rush SL 6 MED. (used demo bike) $1200

Thanks a lot, I'm also open to any suggestions. Hopefully something that can take some light All Mountain or Heavy Trail riding.

    No disrespect but

you want help with 11 bikes? Maybe narrow it down to 2 or 3, then come back. Find out what the locals ride, look to see what the stores sell the most of in Bend. Just a thought, Jim

OK, so I've narrowed it down to the 29" hardtail category. Which looks best out of the three listed, or other recommendations in the price range?

    Sorry, can't help you...

I know zip about 29" bikes. Good luck though, cheers, Jim
