New question here. Trek EX8 or Stumpjumper FSR Comp or Orbea Occam Alloy Race?

I'd be coming off an Orbea 29er and looking to get an FS bike around $2k.

I just moved from FL to NC and plan to travel a lot to hit the really cool trails.

I can most likely get very good deals on Orbea and may be able to get into the Occam Team which comes with XT.

I'm still relatively new to MTB so would appreciate it if the more experienced offered their opinions.

    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,

    Dean

I have not ridden the Orbea but I have demoed both the Trek and FSR. I personally liked the Trek and just purchased the EX 9. I really liked the Dual Chamber Fox rear shock over the Specialized offering. It is the best rear shock I've ridden in a long time. The Fuel climbed more efficiently, probable because it has slightly less travel than the Specialized, and that was important to me since I live in CO. Both bikes are good designs, I just think Trek has it nailed for their Fuel EX line this year. ABP is the real deal too.

Both frames have lifetime warranties and their part specs are equal enough not to be a huge factor. Its all about what you like best. Be sure to ride them all.

miagi: Thanks for the info. How much more is the EX9 going for in stores over the EX8 by you?

Its about a grand difference. Mine retailed for $3199 and they are in short supply this year so there aren't many deals out there.

Ignore other posters, ride both, and see which you prefer.

    Seriously. :X
