    trek 4500, trek 6500, specialized rockhopper, or specialized hard rock comp

    hi iam on a budget of aroung 550 or less i looked at the following bikes trek 4500 disc, trek 6500 v brake , specialized rockhopper, or specialized hard rock comp or an bike around 550 or less. would like to know what bike you think is best for xc riding.

    I was also considering those bikes, well except the 6500 as I didnt want to spend that much.

    I wound up just today ordering an 05 Rockhopper, which I upgraded to a stiff spring in the fork, 10wt oil and Shimano Deore hubs and disc brakes. I am in Canada so the pricing is different so I wont go there.

    I basicaly chose the rockhopper because it came with the best fork, it does not use elastomers. It also had the best components (Not sure about the 6500). It also has a race ready frame with lots of room to grow. The hardrock is not really suited to XC racing. I am sure the 4500 would make a great bike, but I think the rockhopper offers more bang for the buck!
