    Trance 1 ' 07 model vs. MK III Sport ' 07

Knowing that these bikes are very close it is a tough choice to make. I want to do aggressive trail and XC but I don`t want to be afraid to do any small drops. The main difference between these 2 are in the parts specs but I am wondering which frame would hold up better and need less maintainence. I can always upgrade parts after.

I would go with the trance. It is a little more money but i think it is probably a better bike. I have an 05 trance 2, almost the same as this one that you are looking at and i love it. I do mostly XC type of stuff, and a fair amount of more technical stuff with some drops that are only a couple of feet. The bike has held up great.

I cant say about the Iron Horse.
I do own a 2006 Trance 1 and have beat the thing to death with jumps and small drops. Have had no major problems to speak of except for a broken bolt that was probably torqued to incorrect specs.

The only gripe I have is the internal headset. You will be limited to the type of headset you can install at a later date. http://www.chrisking.com/pdfs/Int%20...0Explained.pdf

I have been very satisfied with the Trance. If you have the chance ride both before making the decision.

    Good Luck.

Thanx everyone for your replies. I figured that IH MKIII had a burlier frame so it would do the job. Looks like Trance is winning by a landslide.
    One question though....

How small are the drops and what kind of abuse do you dish out? I`m thinking of throwing a Pike on it to see how AM ish it can go.

THE TRANCE IS WINNING BY A LANDSLIDE?????

Wooooww! Hang on there buddy! The Trance is one fine bike. That is for sure. A couple of close friends ride them. My opinion is the MKIII may suit YOUR need better.

First reason- the DW-Link suspension!!! Many consider it to be the finest design available. The Trance uses a VERY capable "copy" of that design.
    http://dw-link.com/reasons.html

Second, you talk of aggresive trail and XC riding. The Trance has 4.2" of travel. The MKIII has 5" of travel!!!

Third, the Trance has a 70.5 degree head angle. The '07 MKIII has a 69.5 head angle. The MKIII's more relaxed head angle will provide more confidence descending while still maintaining agility.

The Trance does have a slightly better parts kit.

Maintainance is a non- issue. They are both pretty reliable.

I happen to own an MKIII Team. I use it for pretty much everything but DH. It is my do-all bike. It is my AGGRESIVE trail/xc bike!!! Shorty stem. Riser Bars. Platform Pedals. If you try making those changes to a Trance, it would still be a XC bike.

I am not trying to be Mr. Iron Horse. I am also not trying to disminish the how "amazing" a bike the Trance is- because it is! What I am trying to do is give Mushahi a different perspective.

Ultimately, he must choose the bike that best suits HIS needs. If he is honest with himself regarding those needs, he will choose the right bike! Good luck! They are both amazing bikes!

For What your looking for please look at the Mongoose Super Teocali. Great bike more travel and has had stellar reviews. At any rate you wont go wrong with either the Giant or the Iron Horse.
