    Surly Ogre Build

    Received my 2020 Ogre frame this week. The question from the pic below is how long will the wife allow me to take up space inside the house rather than in the garage for the build!?

    For now I have just the frame, fork and Clear Creek 40 headset. I am waiting on a stem to be delivered so I can mount the fork.

    I am thinking I am going to go ahead and order a Shimano XT MT800 bottom bracket and a seat stem of some sort.

    I will be looking for parts on the cheap for a while. Right now I am trying to decide on the drivetrain. I am leaning toward a Shimano XT M8000 1x11 setup. I have Sram Eagle on my Stache but it is pretty pricey.

    I am going to try to get good components either on sale or second hand as much as I can and still keep the build quality up.

    I will be going 29x2.5 on the wheels and tires ultimately. I will keep my build updated here.

    I am trying to read up and watch Youtube to determine if I have the tools to do the headset and fork.

    Some progress was made this last week.

    I found deals on some basic frame parts to begin with;
    - Crane Creek 40 Headset
    - ProMax 90mm stem
    - Shimano BB-MT800 bottom bracket (just waiting on a wrench to install)
    - Surly Moloko handlebars

    Stuff I had on hand that I also installed;
    - Race Face Ride XC seatpost
    - Serfas ICS seat

    I did not have a headset so a big shout out to Connor at Bicycles Plus in Flower Mound, TX. This is a small shop that does big work. Many of the guys there are Surly guys and they had a lot of great input on possibilities for my build. They do great work and I will be having Connor build a wheel set for me in the future.

    Connor helped not only with getting the headset installed but got the fork steering tube cut and the stem properly spaced for me (I am really tall 6'6")
