Stolen G F Sugar What should I get next.
My Gary Fisher Sugar was stolen last week from our very low crime area driveway. I had the bike pretty well upgraded with XTR components and was getting ready to upgrade the suspension. The question at hand is what do I buy as a replacement in the $800-$1000 range. I like full suspension, am a mid level rider/nothing hardcore, ride daily, male and 6' 170 lbs.

I was thinking Cannondale with the lefty fork but am not really a bike brand/model expert.

Your suggestions for a great used replacement are appreciated.

More about my riding style. 90% of the time I ride on flat bike trails due to the geography of my area, Ohio. 10% of the time we ride on mountain bike specific built trails or natural single track. I am not doing big drops or jumps.

I like Carbon frames but am not totally opposed to aluminum.

Bikes that I am considering in order of preference:

    2012 Cannondale Scalpel Carbon

    2012 Cannondale Jekyll

    2009 Gary Fisher Hi Fi

    2012 Stumpjumper

    2012 Specialized Epic

Please feel free to make other suggestions.

    Patience grassshopper ;~)

From what you describe, a 29er hardtail sounds like a better choice. Full suspension sounds like complete overkill IMHO. For that kind of money, and if the budget cannot be stretched, I would check out the Airborne Seeker. For <$1,000, your FS options get into components that you won't be happy with coming from XTR.
