Seated and standing comfort in M/L frame size

Jumping over here from the Transition forum's sizing thread. I'm in between Transitions M and L sizes and trying to rationalize what's going on with my subjective feeling of sizing.

    Medium frame
    Eff. Top Tube: 585mm
    Reach: 432mm

    Large frame
Eff Top Tube: 614mm (+29mm over med)
    Reach: 457mm (+25mm over med)

    Me: 5'10.5" with 30" inseam.

Stock Transition Scout has 760mm bars and 50mm stem.

Medium feels great standing, but a bit cramped sitting.
Large feels great sitting, but a bit too large standing.

    Thoughts?

I'm guessing this means I should consider a large and fit a shorter stem?

Although we haven't measured our body arm for arm, we're pretty close. I would rock the large and then slap on a 35 mm stem on 780 bars. I like the 610-615ish TT and I try to get my reach to about 490. You can play with reach but TT length is a set number.

    IMO

    Thanks Junersun.

My wingspan is about the same as my height, maybe a little more, as I can't measure it properly at the moment.

Yeah we're about the same then. Any way you can demo ride it? From numbers standpoint I would say a large though.

Yes, there is a shop that I visited today which will let me demo for $100. Do they normally let you swap stems for a demo?

Some shops do. If that gives them a sell then I don't know why they wouldn't help you out.
