    Schwinn Moab DS 1 ???s

I have been searching for a small FS frame for my wife now for awhile, and my LBS has got a Moab DS1 frame that they are willing to part with for around $200.00. Problem is, it is just a bare frame, and they aren't going to build it up just so that she can give it a test ride. I looked at the reviews for the bike, and they seemed to be very positive. But, I was looking for some more input on this bike from people who have lived with it for awhile. I will also take comments from people who own Rockets, as they use the same suspension system. For what they want for the frame, I can build a whole bike for less than I could buy a new one (using parts laying about the house). Should I jump at this deal? Or should I run away screaming? Maybe something in between.

Please limit input to constructive criticism of the bike/frame. I am aware that you can get "Shwinns" at Wal-Mart, and that they have no bling factor.

Bicycling Magazine wrote up a short review on it:

There is membere named Summitlt that has a DS-3 (same frame, just different part spec). Try sending him a PM and see what he thinks of this frame:

His own site (goto the "Biking" section and you'll see pics of his build):

I had all these bookmarked because I was going to pick up one of these on eBay about 6 months ago. There are a couple eBayers who always seem to have a supply of these frames:

Wow, thanks for all of the info

Really great resources. What it tells me is that this might not be the bike for her. But I should not rule it out entirely. I will have to look and see what else I can find without too much difficulty locally. If I can't find anything around here though, looks like I might be checking out Ebay.
