    Need FS frame

Alright, so I'm going to take the leap from HT to FS, but I'm not about to buy a whole new bike. So what frame should I pick up for around $1500-$2000? I ride ride east coast singletrack and fire roads. I'm 5'11" 150lbs. I've heard good things about Intense, Jamis and Specialized.

There are a million (well, not quite) FS bikes out there, and they range from 2" to 8" (or more) of travel. You say you ride XC, which pretty much eliminates the 6-8-inchers, but leaves a pretty big field. Please describe your riding style a bit more, like how agressive are you, do you race, do you like to do lots of really big jumps, or are you just looking to take the edge off rocky trails? If you have a specific range of travel in mind, mention that. What's your current hardtail and what doesn't it do for you that FS will? All this will help get you some recommendations that are useful for you.

    Have fun shopping!

Look where you want to go. This is as true in life as it is in mtbiking.
