    Increasing fork length.

Iím thinking about replacing a cheap Suntour 120 travel fork on a friends bike with a Pike RCT3 set at 150. The axle crown difference is close to 2 cm which I donít think is enough to cause any real structural problems. I understand the geo changes and I think those will be pretty minimal once we have the fork sagged out. I have a through axle wheel for her too and maybe my old XT brakes in case her brake hose is too short.

2cm will be about a 1į change, which isn't too much. That Suntour must be a long fork.
I got some bad ideas in my head.

Your bike and frame will be fine. Its not that you'll have to worry about.

Your seat tube will slacken out, which is generally considered to be bad. Your bottom bracket will also raise, which changes handling. Sometimes thats a wash, sometimes not.

Its not minimal, and sag isnt going to to address that. When you're climbing something steep, your fork isnt sagging.

Id buy a 130mm spring for the pike. A bike designed around a 120mm fork handles best somewhere in that range.

^^^ Less travel in the fork. One could also use different sized tires to make some changes as well.
